INFORMATION ON & LINKS TO THE WRITER GEORGE SAUNDERS
George Saunders is the fiercely imaginative author of two short story
collections and a children's book. Many of his stories take place in
dystopic but wholly believable amusement parks. He has been named one of
America's best young writers by The New Yorker. He is very funny.

George Saunders teaches at Syracuse University. The university
website describes him thusly: "George Saunders has published a
collection of stories called CivilWarLand in Bad Decline. His fiction has
appeared in The New Yorker, Harper's, Story, and many other publications.
He won the National Magazine Award in 1994 for his story The '400-pound
CEO' and again in 1996 for the story 'Bounty.' He has explored for oil in
Sumatra, played guitar in a Texas bar band, and worked in a
slaughterhouse."
